"Then he turned to his host. "When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,"
he said, "don't invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors.
For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward.
Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.
Then at the ressurection of the righteous, God will reward you
for inviting those who could not repay you."
Luke 14: 12-14

Welcome to DFL Ministries for the Disabled. Dustin Leatherman founded this ministry in 2003 in order to reach out and minister to the needs of the disabled in our community and in the surrounding areas. We meet in Maiden, NC at Mt. View Baptist Church.

The ministry is seperated into two groups the ministry for the disabled and the ministry for the caregivers.

The Ministry for the disabled.

If you are disabled here is your chance to be a part of something, regardless of your disability, no matter how small or severe it may be, for we are all beautiful in the eyes of God. We do not see disability here, we only see people who have come together to have fun and worship the Lord.

Also, it doesn't matter how young or how old you are we have two seperate groups. Ages 13 and younger meet together, and ages 13 and up meet seperately. So please come and enjoy a full meal, fun fellowship with other people who are disabled, and also enjoy a time of Bible study and praising the Lord.

The Ministry for the caregivers.

Another component of our ministry is to assist the caregivers in meeting the needs of their loved ones and is led by Lisa Austin. This group has become an advocacy group in working to secure benefits for the disabled as well as supporting each other in the midst of stressful circumstances. This group meets seperately from the disabled at each of our monthly meetings and has been to Raleigh to meet with our legislators as well as attended local mental health board meetings. Because no one can completely understand the pressures of being a caregiver unless you have been in such a position, this group is instrumental in supporting each other through ideas, advocating for each other, and simply through listening and understanding the needs of each other.

If you are a caregiver, we invite you to come and be a part of this group. I am sure that you will be blessed and encouraged to know that there are others who understand and care about what you are going through.
